Summer heat insulation |
| |
Facades of east and west elevations
are shaded by egg-crate louvers to protect against
direct solar radiation |
| |
The roof is to be of double construction
and provided with a reflective upper surface with
good thermal insulation layer. |
| |
The choice of materials are those
which reflect rather than absorb radiation and which
will release the absorbed heat as thermal radiation
more readily to bring about lower temperatures within
the building. |
| |
Ventilation concept |
| |
An operable façade maximises
the rate of exchange of air within the building
for optimal health, thermal comfort and structural
cooling. |
| |
Public areas such as corridors
in the hotel levels are naturally ventilatied. |
| |
Apartment and hotel units are
equipped with individually controlled operable windows
for adjustment of ventilation accoutring to the
comfort level of the occupant. |
| |
Lighting concept |
| |
To highlight the prominence of
the tower, feature lighting is to be installed in
the façade to emphasise the sculptural shape
of façade. |
| |
Seasonal variations and festivals
can be expressed in the change of colour of lighting. |
| |
Daylighting Concept |
| |
The quality of internal lighting
in offices and work areas is maximise through controlled
daylight penetration with glare elimination using
external sun-shading devices. |
| |
Light shelves are used for the
east, west and south facade on the office floors
to project natural light into the deeper parts of
the floor plate. |
| |
The design of the façade
utilises photovoltaic panels at the roof and southern
façade to contribute to energy production
for the lighting of the building. |
| |
The construction methods chosen
shall be those which minimise energy wastage with
an emphasis on lower embodied energy methods. |
